Vallari Harshwal Studio (V H Studio), is a ceramic design studio situated on the fringes of Henley -On -Thames (England). The studio specialises in designing handcrafted ceramic objects, tableware and lights.
Having worked with clients like Good Earth in India and Liberty Oriental Carpets (Liberty London), the studio also offers design services for tableware design and interior objects.
Craft and design are interlinked in every object that is designed at V H Studio. Whether handcrafting inhouse or designing ceramic ware for a collaborator, surface design, forms with function and material exploration is the core of the studio’s design approach. Each project goes through intense research and development before a line of collection is ready for launch.

Vallari’s creative genes comes from her family background of artists and designers in India.
A graduate of Fine Arts, followed by Post Graduation in Ceramic Design, Vallari has worked with clay as her main medium for more than 25 years.
She moved to England about 25 years ago and today her designs are sum total of the two cultures she experiences, effortlessly making them her own. Her design sense is informed by observations of lived experiences between India and UK.
Vallari has worked as a designer for more then 2 decade for various design houses and ceramic brands, leading upto founding her own studio.

Inspiration:
Vallari draws limitless inspiration from fleeting memories of lived experiences to the mysterious movements of nature through seasons and time. The shifting landscape of nature through the changing seasons, the probing of process and movement in natural surrounding has become her all time muse.
“How do I share with the world what I observe and feel” is Vallari’s constant quest.
Behind every collection is a journey of long treaded explorations and experimentations. Clay as a medium can be extremely soul satisfying, calming, beautiful, frustrating as well but always truly versatile in its existence.
Vallari uses this unpredictablity of clay to engage and probe its nature further through her work.
Being born in India, she regularly draws inspiration from her heritage, often times capturing subtle quirky nuances of life her birth country, juxtaposed by her life in England.
Process:
V H Studio’s own work is usally small batch production along with some exclusive limited edition of art work and lights.
Each new design, whether for the studio’s collection or for a client- first begins as a silent observation, followed by sketches or photography of subject. Days and weeks are spent in design explorations, iterations and sampling, before the final design is complete.
V H Studio’s tableware is predominantly hand made either on potters wheel or slabbed, coiled and pinched pottery methods.
For lights and sculptural objects- small “maquettes’ are a regular practise.
Whether it is an unexplored clay technique or glaze application, through failures and unexpected pleasant, or sometimes desired outcomes,Vallari likes to push the limitations of a material and is constantly experiementing beyond the known.
